Niña Pastori
Niña Pastori, born María Rosa García in 1978 in San Fernando, Cádiz, is a celebrated Spanish flamenco artist renowned for her unique blend of traditional flamenco and contemporary pop. As the youngest of five and the only daughter of a military father, José García, and flamenco singer "La Pastori" García, her stage name reflects her familial roots—she was affectionately called "la niña" and known as "the daughter of La Pastori."
Pastori embarked on her musical journey early, performing alongside her mother at local flamenco venues by the age of six. Her talent was recognized when she won a singing competition at the "El Chato" club in San Fernando just a year later, showcasing her exceptional ability in the bulerías style of flamenco.
Under the mentorship of flamenco legend Camarón de la Isla, Niña Pastori honed her craft, eventually evolving her sound to incorporate a more commercial edge while preserving her flamenco heritage. At just seventeen, she collaborated with notable producers Paco Ortega and Alejandro Sanz to release her debut album, "Entre dos puertos," which sold over 150,000 copies and featured the summer hit "Tú me camelas."
Over her illustrious career, Pastori has released ten albums and sold approximately two million records, solidifying her status as a pivotal figure in modern flamenco music. Her artistry continues to captivate audiences, blending tradition with innovation in the world of Spanish music.
