Peter Hook

Peter Hook is a prominent English musician best known as the bassist and co-founder of two influential rock bands: Joy Division and New Order. Born on February 13, 1956, in Salford, England, Hook's distinctive bass playing and innovative musical style have left a lasting impact on the post-punk and electronic music scenes.

In 1976, he co-founded Joy Division, a band that would go on to revolutionize the music landscape with their haunting sound and introspective lyrics. The release of their seminal album, "Unknown Pleasures" in 1979, showcased Hook's signature melodic bass lines, which became a defining feature of the band's music. Tragically, Joy Division's journey was cut short by the untimely death of lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980.

Following this, Hook and his bandmates formed New Order, blending rock with electronic dance music and achieving commercial success in the 1980s. Their hit single "Blue Monday" became one of the best-selling 12-inch records of all time, highlighting their innovative approach to music.

Throughout his career, Peter Hook has also ventured into solo projects, including his own band, Peter Hook and The Light, where he continues to perform Joy Division and New Order's classics.
