Patty Andrews, born Patricia Marie Andrews on February 16, 1918, in Mound, Minnesota, was the daughter of Greek Catholic immigrant Peter Andreos, who later adopted the surname 'Andrews', and Olga Sollie, a Lutheran from Norway. The family owned a Greek café in Minneapolis, conveniently located next to the Orpheum Theater. Patty was the youngest of three sisters; Lavern Sophie (b. July 6, 1911 - d. 1967) and Maxene Angelyn (b. January 3, 1916 - d. October 1995) both paved the way for a family legacy in entertainment. Despite their father’s disapproval of show business for his daughters, Maxene’s early radio performances at just four years old set the stage for their future.

The trio began their journey in local kiddie revues and were eventually discovered by Larry Rich, leading them to join his traveling revue when Patty was just ten. Their careers took off in New York City, performing with renowned orchestras and making a name for themselves in Vaudeville. In 1937, they caught the attention of recording executive Dave Kapp, marking the start of a successful partnership filled with popular hits.

After a brief breakup in 1953, during which Laverne pursued acting and Patty continued her solo career, the sisters reunited in 1956, performing in Las Vegas and signing with Capitol Records. Their notable hits included "Bei Mir Bist Du Schön," "Don't Fence Me In," and "Rum and Coca Cola," celebrating their enduring impact on the music industry.
