Marietta Elliott
Marietta Elliott was born in New York City and was the sole offspring of Clyde E. Elliott, a distinguished motion picture director known for films like Frank Buck's "Bring 'Em Back Alive" and "Devil Tiger," and Marie Flavia Elliott, a Polish-born actress. During her childhood, Marietta accompanied her father on his film expeditions across Asia for Paramount before the family eventually settled in Los Angeles. She completed her education at Hollywood High School, where she showcased her talent in fencing under the tutelage of the esteemed Ralph Faulkner. However, she ultimately pivoted from fencing to pursue ballet.
Marietta launched her dance career as one of the celebrated Earl Carroll Girls, recognized for their stunning performances. She transitioned into various productions with the Los Angeles Light Opera and graced numerous musical variety television shows, as well as feature films like "Showboat," "Singin' in the Rain," "An American in Paris," and the classic series "Gunsmoke." While working under contract at Fox, she met writer Alfred Hayes, whom she later wed. After retiring from the world of dance, Marietta found a new calling in real estate, establishing herself as a successful agent and broker across Los Angeles, where she continued to thrive professionally for many years.
