Aleksander Eelmaa (November 6, 1946 – July 21, 2021) was a prominent Estonian actor, celebrated for his dynamic performances on stage and screen. Born in Viljandi, Eelmaa embarked on his artistic journey at the Estonian SSR Theatre Association's pantomime studio, where he honed his craft from 1968 to 1969. His theatrical career flourished across several esteemed institutions, including the Estonian Youth Theatre from 1976 to 1981, and the Vanalinnastuudio from 1981 to 1990. He then graced the Estonian Drama Theatre from 1990 to 2006, followed by a significant tenure at Tallinn City Theatre from 2007 to 2015, before returning to the Estonian Drama Theatre in 2015.

In addition to his stage accomplishments, Eelmaa made notable appearances in films such as "Agent Wild Duck," "A Friend of Mine," and "Vana daami visiit," as well as in television series like "Tuulepealne maa" and "Õnne 13," showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Eelmaa's legacy continues through his children, actor and director Taavi Eelmaa and theatre artist Liisi Eelmaa. Tragically, he passed away on July 21, 2021, at the age of 74 in Ohtla. Remarkably, he was performing in the play "Kadunud kodu" at the Saueaugu Theatre Farm, which had debuted just the evening prior to his passing.
