2 titles Acting

Jason Paul Sutton OBE is an officer in the Royal Air Force Regiment, recognized for his commendable service during the Iraq conflict in 2007, for which he was honored as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.

Born in Reading, Berkshire in 1966, Sutton enlisted in the RAF Regiment in 1989 after completing his Initial Officer Training at the RAF College Cranwell. He began his career as a junior officer within No. 20 Squadron and No. 3 Squadron of the RAF Regiment, eventually taking on the role of Station Regiment Officer at RAF Cranwell. He has also served as Officer Commanding the Junior Regiment Officers' Course at RAF Honington and as Second-in-Command of The Queen’s Colour Squadron.

In 2001, he was promoted to squadron leader and appointed as SO2 in the RAF Ceremonial Office at RAF Bentley Priory. During his tenure, he played a key role in organizing several high-profile ceremonial events, such as the unveiling of the Battle of Britain Monument and various Remembrance ceremonies.

Sutton took command of No. 1 Squadron RAF Regiment in March 2006, participating in operations across Northern Ireland, Georgia, East Timor, Afghanistan, and Iraq. His leadership during an intense six-month deployment at Basrah Contingency Operating Base, marked by sustained insurgent attacks, was exemplary. Tragically, the Squadron lost personnel during this period. For his exceptional leadership, Sutton was appointed as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and was promoted to wing commander in the Operational Support Branch of the RAF on July 1, 2008.
