Floyd Abrams

Floyd Abrams, born on July 9, 1936, is a prominent American attorney renowned for his expertise in constitutional law. He is a partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, a prestigious law firm he joined in 1963, becoming a partner seven years later in 1970. Over his illustrious career, Abrams has argued 13 significant cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, showcasing his legal acumen.

Among his notable achievements, Abrams represented The New York Times in the landmark Pentagon Papers case in 1971, asserting the vital role of a free press in a democratic society. He also defended journalist Judith Miller during the CIA leak grand jury investigation and represented major corporations such as Standard & Poor's and Lorillard Tobacco Company. In 2010, he played a crucial role in the Citizens United case, which had profound implications for campaign finance law.

In addition to his legal practice, Abrams appeared as Judge Hall in the 2008 film "Nothing but the Truth," highlighting his influence beyond the courtroom. He currently holds the title of William J.
