Vitaly Mansky
Vitaly Vsevolodovich Mansky, born on December 2, 1963, in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR, USSR, is a prominent film and documentary director known for his Jewish Ukrainian heritage. Throughout his career, Mansky has achieved global recognition, with his works showcased at numerous international film festivals, earning him over 100 prestigious awards.
In 2007, he established the International Festival of Creative Documentary Films, Artdocfest, which has become a significant platform for innovative documentary filmmaking. His commitment to social issues and civil rights has been a hallmark of his career, leading him to emigrate to Latvia in 2014 to escape persecution from Russian authorities due to his outspoken views.
Currently, Mansky serves as the president of the IDFF Artdocfest/Riga and is an esteemed member of the American Film Academy, commonly known as the Oscars. His notable works include "Gorbachev. Heaven" and "Putin's Witnesses," both of which examine the complexities of political power and human rights.
