George Roger Waters, born on September 6, 1943, is a renowned English musician, singer-songwriter, and composer, best known as a founding member of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd. Initially serving as the bassist and co-lead vocalist, Waters took on the role of primary lyricist and conceptual architect after Syd Barrett's departure in 1968. His creative vision helped propel Pink Floyd to global acclaim in the 1970s with iconic concept albums, including The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall. While his main instrument was the bass guitar, Waters also innovated with synthesizers, tape loops, and rhythm guitar during recordings and live performances.

In 1985, after internal conflicts, Waters exited the band and engaged in a legal confrontation with the remaining members regarding the band's name and material, which was resolved out of court in 1987. It would be nearly two decades before he reunited with Pink Floyd. Waters has since enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing three studio albums: The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking (1984), Radio K.A.O.S. (1987), and Amused to Death (1992). He also contributed to the 1986 film soundtrack for When the Wind Blows, based on Raymond Briggs' work.

A highlight of his career came in 1990 when he staged The Wall – Live in Berlin, one of the largest rock concerts ever, attended by around 200,000 fans. Waters was inducted into both the US and UK Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of Pink Floyd. His tours since 1999 have included a full performance of The Dark Side of the Moon and the ambitious The Wall Live tour starting in 2010. Notably, Waters reunited with his Pink Floyd bandmates for the Live 8 concert in 2005, their first collaboration in 24 years. In 2005, he also released Ça Ira
