Alexis Arquette
Alexis Arquette (July 28, 1969 – September 11, 2016) was a prominent American actress and a passionate advocate for transgender rights. Hailing from Los Angeles, she was the youngest of five siblings in the Arquette family, which included actors Rosanna, Richmond, Patricia, and David Arquette. Born to Lewis Arquette, an actor and director, and Brenda Olivia "Mardi" (née Nowak), an actress, Alexis was immersed in the entertainment world from an early age. Her career kicked off at just 12 years old with a role in the music video "She's a Beauty" by The Tubes, followed by her film debut in Down and Out in Beverly Hills (1986).
Known for her dynamic performances, Arquette often showcased her talent as a female impersonator under the name "Eva Destruction" before openly discussing her transition and the journey toward gender-affirming surgery. Her diverse filmography spanned both independent films and blockbusters, including notable titles such as Pulp Fiction, The Wedding Singer, and Bride of Chucky.
Arquette was an outspoken supporter of the transgender community, sharing her experiences candidly, which were captured in the documentary Alexis Arquette: She's My Brother. Throughout her life, she faced significant health challenges, including a diagnosis of HIV in 1987, yet she remained a vibrant figure in both the entertainment industry and advocacy work until her passing in 2016 at the age of 47.
