Interestingly, she was the eldest among the eight actors cast as the Bradford children, being just six months older than Betty Buckley, who played her character's stepmother. Walters made her acting debut in 1973, appearing as Sheila Grove in *The Harrad Experiment*, which marked the beginning of a diverse career.

Throughout the 1980s, Walters showcased her talent with guest roles on several popular TV shows, including *Cheers* and *Highway to Heaven*. She also reunited with her *Eight Is Enough* cast members for two specials but stepped away from television acting after 1993.

By 1999, Walters had transitioned into a new chapter of her life in Los Angeles, focusing on environmentalism. In more recent years, she has returned to her theatrical roots, performing in various plays across Southern California and directing productions in Ojai, California, under her married name, Laurie Walters Slade. Additionally, she took on a significant role in the film industry as the head of film acquisitions for Ironweed Films, a subscription service, further highlighting her versatility and commitment to the arts.
