Juan Carlos Andrews
Juan Carlos Andrews is a distinguished electronics engineer who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His groundbreaking thesis, titled "Acoustic Analysis of the Javier Barros Sierra Auditorium," established significant advancements in sound engineering within educational institutions.
At just 21 years old, Juan Carlos was invited by a theater producer friend to join the technical team for the inaugural production of "Beauty and the Beast," OCESA’s major theatrical endeavor in Mexico during the mid-1990s. It was here that he honed his skills in live sound technology, working closely with renowned audio expert Luis Lojo. His dedication and talent quickly propelled him through the ranks—from operating sound effects on "Beauty and the Beast" to becoming the chief engineer for "Rent," and later taking on the role of audio designer for "Man of La Mancha."
In addition to his theater work, Juan Carlos has been committed to philanthropy, volunteering for the SYDA Foundation, a global non-profit that fosters educational and live broadcasting events in 150 cities worldwide. Since 2002, he has served as the chief sound engineer on tours across the United States, Asia, and Europe. Eventually, he settled in New York City, where he reunited with Luis Lojo and became involved with Jazz at Lincoln Center, further solidifying his status in the realm of live sound engineering.
