Angharad Rees was a Welsh actress born in London, who later ventured into jewellery design. She gained fame for her performances on British television throughout the 1970s, particularly for her notable portrayal of Demelza in the BBC costume drama "Poldark."

Rees was the daughter of distinguished Welsh psychiatrist Linford Rees (William Linford Llewellyn Rees) and Catherine Thomas. At the age of two, her family relocated to Cardiff, Wales, in 1946. She pursued her education at the Sorbonne in Paris for two terms and at the Rose Bruford Drama College in Kent, England. Additionally, she studied at the University of Madrid and worked as an English teacher in Spain before embarking on her acting career in repertory theatre across England.

On September 18, 1973, Rees married fellow actor Christopher Cazenove, with whom she had two sons: Linford James and Rhys William. Tragically, Linford lost his life in a car accident on the M11 motorway in Essex while en route to collect books from Cambridge University, where he was completing his Master of Philosophy. Although Rees and Cazenove divorced in 1994, they maintained a close relationship until his passing from septicaemia in 2010. Later, she married David McAlpine, associated with the McAlpine construction family, at The Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, remaining with him until her death.

Rees established a jewellery design business named Angharad, located in Knightsbridge, London.
