Paul "Wix" Wickens, born on March 27, 1956, is a distinguished English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and record producer. Over a career that has spanned more than four decades, Wickens has collaborated with a diverse range of iconic musicians, including Paul McCartney, Nik Kershaw, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bon Jovi, and Edie Brickell, among others. Notably, he has been a vital member of McCartney's touring ensemble since 1989.
In the early 1980s, Wickens was part of the band Woodhead Monroe, which released two singles, “Mumbo Jumbo” and “Identify,” through Stiff Records. His significant break came when he joined Paul McCartney's band, where he not only contributed his keyboard skills but also took on roles as a guitarist and backing vocalist. Wickens has played an integral part in many of McCartney's albums and DVDs and has served as the musical director for numerous tours, solidifying his position as the longest-serving member of McCartney's touring group.
