Rita Zohar

Rita Zohar is a distinguished actress whose versatile career encompasses film, television, and theater. Born during World War II in a concentration camp in Balta, which was then part of the Kingdom of Romania, she faced early adversity that shaped her resilient spirit.

In the 1950s, Zohar emigrated to Israel with her mother, where she began her acting journey at the Cameri Theatre, captivating audiences with performances in Yiddish. The 1980s marked a significant transition in her career as she moved to the United States. During this time, she graced the small screen with memorable roles in popular television series such as Quincy M.E., St. Elsewhere, and Cagney & Lacey. Her filmography from this era features notable works, including Daniel (1983), Amadeus (1984), The Deliberate Stranger (1986), and Lady in White (1988). Zohar’s remarkable talent was recognized when she won the Best Actress award from the Israeli Film Academy for her performance in Laura Adler’s Last Love Affair (1990).

Continuing to showcase her talents, Zohar appeared in Mrs. Moskowitz and the Cats (2009) and is set to feature in the upcoming Eleanor the Great (2025). With a career that spans decades, Rita Zohar remains an influential figure in the performing arts, celebrated for her contributions and resilience.
