Anneza Papadopoulou
Anneza Papadopoulou (Greek: Ανέζα Παπαδοπούλου; born in Kifissia, 1957 – passed away on July 8, 2022) was a prominent Greek actress whose career spanned several decades.
She began her artistic journey at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Northern Greece, making her theatrical debut in 1974. Over nearly twenty years, she left a significant mark at the National Theatre of Northern Greece, participating in 19 productions. Notable performances included her portrayal of the titular character in Federico García Lorca's *Germa*, as well as roles in Bertolt Brecht's *Mother Courage and Her Children* and *The Opera of the Five*, where she played Polly.
Her talents extended to collaborations with esteemed institutions such as the National Theatre of Greece and the Attis Theatre. Among her acclaimed performances were significant roles in Samuel Beckett's *Happy Days* (2020), Euripides' *Ion* (2003) and *Bacchae* (2017), Sophocles' *Antigone* (2016), and Robert Bolt's *A Man for All Seasons* (2014). Her final stage performance in *Happy Days* marked a poignant end to her theatrical career.
In addition to her stage work, Papadopoulou also made her mark in film, with standout roles in *Little England* (2013), *Real Life* (2004), *Shoulder for Hire* (2007), and *120 Decibels* (1987). She also appeared in several television series. Anneza Papadopoulou lost her battle with cancer in 2022, leaving behind a legacy of profound contributions to Greek theatre and film.
