Babe London, originally named Jean Glover, was an American actress and comedian born on August 28, 1901, in the United States. She is best known for her memorable collaboration with Oliver Hardy in the 1931 Laurel and Hardy short film, *Our Wife*.

London embarked on her film career as a teenager, making her debut in *The Expert Eloper* in 1919. She went on to share the screen with Charlie Chaplin in *A Day's Pleasure* and featured in over 50 silent films, including notable works like *The Perfect Flapper*, *The Boob*, and the 1928 remake of *Tillie's Punctured Romance* alongside W.C. Fields. Throughout her career, she worked with many prominent comedians of the time, including Harry Langdon and Chester Conklin.

At her peak, London weighed 255 pounds; however, a heart condition later compelled her to lose 100 pounds, which unfortunately led to a decline in film offers and her career took a downturn.

In the late 1950s, London reinvented herself as a painter, dedicating her final two decades to capturing the essence of early Hollywood through her art. She created a series titled *The Vanishing Era*, and upon her passing on November 29, 1980, she bequeathed 75 of her paintings, along with personal items, to the University of Wyoming's American Heritage Center.
