Akilah Hughes

Akilah Hughes is a multifaceted writer, comedian, and YouTuber who has made her mark in Brooklyn, New York. Originally hailing from Edgewood, Kentucky, she grew up in the Northern Kentucky region before pursuing higher education at Berea College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting in 2010.

In 2012, Akilah relocated to New York City to chase her passion for comedy, securing a scholarship to the prestigious Upright Citizens Brigade. Since then, she has built a diverse portfolio, creating and starring in content across various platforms including her own YouTube channel, as well as working with MTV, Fusion, Vh1, Elite Daily, Oxygen, Allure Magazine, and Elle Magazine.

Notably, Akilah is also a Sundance Episodic Story Labs Alum, recognized for her talent in developing a half-hour comedy series. Her contributions to literature are set to expand with the release of her essay collection, slated for publication by Razorbill, an imprint of Penguin, in 2019. Through her engaging storytelling and sharp wit, Akilah Hughes continues to captivate audiences and make significant strides in the comedy and writing landscapes.
