Jason Cooper

Jason Toop Cooper, born on January 31, 1967, in London, England, is a renowned drummer celebrated primarily for his contributions to the iconic band The Cure. His musical journey began with formal studies at Drumtech in London, where he now serves as a patron and visiting artist, inspiring aspiring drummers.

Cooper first gained recognition as the percussionist for the band My Life Story before joining The Cure in 1995, succeeding Boris Williams. Since then, he has been an integral part of the band, contributing his drumming skills to every studio album released after "Wild Mood Swings." His dynamic performances are also captured in three concert films: "Trilogy," "Festival 2005," and "Anniversary 2018."

In addition to his work with The Cure, Cooper has ventured into film music composition. He notably co-created the haunting score for the 2007 horror/thriller "From Within," alongside Oliver Kraus. Their collaboration earned them the accolade for Best Original Score at the 2008 Solstice Film Festival, highlighting his versatility as a musician.

On a personal note, Cooper married his long-time partner, Allison, on May 15, 2004. His career continues to thrive, marked by significant contributions to both live music and film soundtracks, solidifying his status in the music industry.
