Rhatha Phongam
Rhatha Phongam, widely known as Yayaying or Ying, is a talented Thai actress and singer who hails from a family of entertainers; her father is the renowned comedic actor Noi Phongam. Demonstrating her artistic prowess early on, she recorded her first album at the age of 16, collaborating with some of Thailand’s most prominent musicians. In addition to her musical talents, Yayaying is a skilled dancer, having trained in ballet since she was six years old.
Her educational journey began at St. Joseph Bangna School, followed by her graduation from Phraharuthai Convent School. She pursued higher education at Bangkok University, earning a bachelor's degree in Humanities with a focus on English and later a master's degree in Business Economics. Her commitment to language learning included a year in Australia, where she improved her English fluency.
Yayaying's international career has seen her shine in Thai productions as well as in Germany, and she gained significant recognition for her role in Nicolas Winding Refn's critically acclaimed film "Only God Forgives," where she starred alongside Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling. After establishing herself in the entertainment industry, she opted to change her name from "Weerawun" to "Ratha" based on insights from a fortune teller, further marking her unique journey in the arts.
