Following his success on Spin City, Chaplin continued to collaborate with the show's creator, Bill Lawrence, appearing in the medical comedy Scrubs. In this series, he portrayed a drug addict in the episode "My Moment of Un-Truth," where he attempts to deceive Elliot into providing him with prescription drugs. He later reappears in "My Rite of Passage," taking advantage of Jordan to secure money. Ultimately, his character evolves into a drug counselor in "My Scrubs," asserting that he has turned his life around.

Chaplin also showcased his acting skills in the long-running crime drama Law & Order, specifically in Season 14, Episode 1 titled "Bodies."
