Trent Williams
Trent Williams, born on July 19, 1988, in Longview, Texas, showcased his athletic prowess at Longview High School, where he was a standout for the Lobos alongside future NFL stars like Malcolm Kelly, Chris Ivory, and Robert Henson. As a senior, he earned unanimous first-team all-district honors and also competed in shot put in track and field. Initially a three-star recruit, Williams opted to play for the University of Oklahoma, turning down offers from several prestigious schools.
From 2006 to 2009, Williams played for the Oklahoma Sooners under coach Bob Stoops, quickly becoming the starting right tackle as a true freshman due to injury on the line. His junior year was particularly notable, as he protected quarterback Sam Bradford and facilitated running back DeMarco Murray, contributing to a record-setting 702-point season. Williams earned consensus All-American honors in 2009, despite missing the final game due to injury.
Drafted fourth overall by the Washington Redskins in 2010, Williams signed a lucrative six-year, $60 million contract. His dynamic play redefined the left tackle position, culminating in an unprecedented 98.3 Pro Football Focus grade in 2021, which also marked his ninth Pro Bowl selection and first First-team All-Pro recognition. A significant chapter in his career involved a year-long holdout over a serious medical condition, resulting in a trade to the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. In 2021, he secured a landmark six-year, $138.06 million extension, becoming the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
Over his illustrious sixteen-season career, Williams has amassed twelve Pro Bowl nods and five All-Pro honors, solidifying his status as one of the greatest offensive linemen ever. Known as "Silverback," he has a passion for gorilla-themed art and even released a documentary titled "Silverback: The Trent Williams Story," detailing his fight against cancer. Beyond football,
