James Moontasri

James Moontasri, born on April 10, 1988, is a retired American mixed martial artist who has made his mark in the Welterweight division. Born in Germany, he has showcased his skills in various promotions, including the RFA and the UFC, where he has built a reputation for his striking and grappling abilities.

Before transitioning to MMA, Moontasri was an accomplished taekwondo athlete. He earned a silver medal at the 2007 Pan American Games, highlighting his prowess on an international level. That same year, he was recognized as the USA Taekwondo Male Athlete of the Year and claimed the title of National Champion twice, solidifying his status as a top competitor in the sport.

In addition to his striking background, Moontasri has also pursued Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, achieving a Brown Belt under the guidance of Franklin Aguirre and Brandon Bender.
