Sofia Barclay
Sofia Beatrice Barclay, born on August 31, 1988, in central London, is an accomplished English actress known for her dynamic performances across theatre and screen. Raised in a family with a notable heritage—she is the daughter of Ferzana and Aidan Barclay and the granddaughter of Sir David Barclay—Sofia attended Westminster School before honing her acting skills at the Square Theatre School in New York.
Initially credited as Sofia Stuart, she made her mark in theatre, portraying Desdemona in the 2012 Jack Studio Brockley production of "Othello." Her stage career continued to flourish with significant roles, including Anna in "Future Conditional" at the Old Vic (2015) and Nathalie in "Mosquitoes" at the National Theatre (2017).
Barclay gained further recognition on television, playing Selina in the BBC Two legal sitcom "Defending the Guilty" (2018-2019) and Alisha in the Hampstead Theatre's "Everyday I Make Greatness Happen." She made her film debut in "In Darkness" and appeared in Julian Jarrold's "Sulphur and White."
Her recurring roles include Zarina in the Channel 4 sitcom "We Are Lady Parts" (2021) and Dr. Sullivan, sister to Roy Kent in Apple TV+'s "Ted Lasso." In 2022, she originated the role of Maya in "The Collaboration" at the Young Vic and lent her voice to Malala Windsor in "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." Looking ahead, she is set to star in a Lynley revival for BBC One and BritBox, and she plays Safiya Zamil in the thriller "Prime Target."
