Bowen's early life was marked by both resilience and adventure. Although there is some ambiguity regarding her birth year, she spent her formative years in Stanwell Park, New South Wales, and was educated in Dulwich Hill. The daughter of Qantas employees Tony and Kathleen, she also experienced life abroad, including a childhood chapter in Zimbabwe. In 2006, Bowen graduated from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Creative Arts.
