Richard Young, born in 1955 in Kissimmee, Florida, is an American actor recognized for his steady presence in film and television, primarily in supporting roles. He embarked on his acting journey in the early 1970s, making appearances on various TV shows and featuring in Roger Corman's exploitation films, including *Fly Me* and *Night Call Nurses* (both released in 1972). Throughout the early 1980s, he garnered attention with recurring roles in series like *Flamingo Road* and *Texas*, and appeared in notable films such as *High Risk* (1981) and *The Ice Pirates* (1984).

One of Young's most memorable performances came in the iconic opening sequence of *Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade* (1989), where he played "Fedora," the leader of the tomb robbers who entrusts a young Indiana Jones with his fedora. That same year, he also appeared in the prison drama *An Innocent Man* alongside Tom Selleck. Young took the lead in several 'B' action films, including *Final Mission* (1984) and *Saigon Commandos* (1988), and featured in Corman's *Lords of the Deep* (1989), which aimed to capitalize on the popularity of *The Abyss*.

Horror enthusiasts may recall Young as the psychiatrist Matt in *Friday the 13th: A New Beginning*, where he famously meets a grisly fate. However, following his role in the ambitious but poorly received *Eye of the Widow* (1991), his appearances dwindled, and he has largely remained out of the limelight since, with only a few TV roles to his name.
