Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Una Ronan (born April 12, 1994) is an Irish actress who was born in the United States. Renowned for her performances in period dramas from a young age, Ronan has garnered numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award, alongside four Academy Award nominations and seven nominations from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Ronan embarked on her acting journey in 2003 with a role in the Irish medical drama series *The Clinic*. Her breakthrough came in 2007 when she portrayed a gifted teenager in the period film *Atonement*, earning her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She further established her career with notable performances in *The Lovely Bones* (2009) and *Hanna* (2011), along with a supporting role in *The Grand Budapest Hotel* (2014). Her performances as an Irish immigrant in *Brooklyn* (2015) and as the title character in Greta Gerwig's *Lady Bird* (2017) — which won her a Golden Globe — solidified her status as a leading actress. She also portrayed Jo March in Gerwig's *Little Women* (2019) and is set to produce and star in the upcoming drama *The Outrun* (2024).
On stage, Ronan has played Abigail Williams in the 2016 Broadway revival of *The Crucible* and Lady Macbeth in the 2021 West End revival of *The Tragedy of Macbeth*.
