Alicia Bustamante, a distinguished Cuban actress, is celebrated for her contributions to film, theater, and television. Born in Havana, Cuba, she has had a notable career spanning several decades, making significant impacts at various prestigious institutions, including the National Theater of Havana and the National Dramatic Ensemble. Alicia's remarkable talent earned her the Best Actress award at the Havana Theater Festival.

Initially studying Pedagogy at the University of Havana, Alicia's passion for theater led her to pursue dramatic arts, culminating in her graduation in 1960. In 1962, she made her mark by starring in the inaugural production of the University Theater Group, "El círculo de tiza de Li-Tzing-Tao," directed by Helena de Armas. She joined the National Theater of Havana in 1960 and later became a member of the National Dramatic Ensemble in 1963. Her journey continued as she contributed to the experimental group La Rueda and the iconic Teatro Estudio until 1978, before transitioning to the Havana Musical Theater, where she served as director in its final years.

Alicia gained immense popularity in 1990 with her leading role in the comedic series "La rebambaramba." She ventured into film with "Tránsito" in 1964 and has since engaged in extensive pedagogical work, teaching acting and directing at various institutions, including the International School of Cinema in San Antonio de los Baños and the Conservatory of Arts in Valladolid, Spain. Currently, she collaborates with the French theater company Les Turpials and promotes Cuban culture through her program, "Lecturas Cubanas."
