Kay Kendall (21 May 1927 – 6 September 1959) was a talented actress from England. She launched her cinematic journey with the musical film London Town in 1946. Although this initial project did not achieve commercial success, Kendall continued to secure roles in various productions. Her breakout moment came in 1953 with the comedy Genevieve, which garnered her significant fame. Primarily known for her work in British cinema, she also gained a following in the United States, notably earning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for her performance in the 1957 musical-comedy Les Girls.

Kendall's personal life intertwined with her professional one when she began dating actor Rex Harrison after they co-starred in the comedy The Constant Husband in 1955. The couple married two years later in 1957. Tragically, Harrison discovered from Kendall's physician that she had been diagnosed with myeloid leukaemia, a diagnosis that Kendall herself was unaware of, mistakenly believing she was merely suffering from an iron deficiency. Harrison devotedly cared for her throughout her illness until her untimely passing at the age of 32. Despite her brief career, Kendall's legacy endures in the films she left behind and the impact she had on both British and American audiences.
