Éric Génovèse
Éric Génovèse is a distinguished graduate of the Paris National Conservatory for Drama, where he honed his skills in the performing arts. He has successfully balanced three significant roles throughout his career: a theatrical actor, a musical narrator, and a stage director, showcasing his versatility in both theatre and opera.
Génovèse made his directorial debut in 2001 at Le Théâtre du Marais with Robert Garnier's Les Juives. He further established his reputation by staging Le Privilège des Chemins, a work by Fernando Pessoa, at the esteemed Comédie-Française in collaboration with IRCAM. In 2012, he directed Erzulie Dahomey by Jean-René Lemoine, adding to his impressive body of work.
In the realm of opera, he first took the reins for Rigoletto at Bordeaux Opera in 2007, later returning to direct Die Schule der Frauen by Rolph Liebermann. His notable staging of Così fan tutte at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris included a revival in 2012. Génovèse also made a significant mark on the international stage with his debut at the Vienna State Opera, directing Donizetti's Anna Bolena, featuring renowned artists such as Anna Netrebko and Elīna Garanča, under the baton of Evelino Pidò.
In recognition of his contributions to the arts, Éric Génovèse was honored with the title of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres.
