Kate Cutler
Kate Ellen Louisa Cutler (14 August 1864 – 14 May 1955) was a prominent English singer and actress whose career flourished during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Initially celebrated as an ingénue in musical comedies, she later transitioned into a respected character actress in both comedic and dramatic productions. One of her most notable moments occurred in 1924 when she famously exited the lead role in Noël Coward's play The Vortex just before its opening night, a decision that attracted significant attention.
Throughout her career, Cutler made a mark in the film industry from 1929 to 1938, with notable appearances in films such as Such Is the Law (1930), The Great Gay Road (1931), Lord of the Manor (1933), Come Out of the Pantry (1935), and Moscow Nights (1935). Her final film role was in the acclaimed adaptation of Pygmalion in 1938.
