Ted Nicolaou

Ted Nicolaou is a distinguished American director, screenwriter, and producer known for his contributions to the horror genre. He honed his craft at the University of Texas, where he obtained his degree in film. Nicolaou's career began with a significant role as a sound recordist on the iconic 1974 film, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, where he also provided the infamous van utilized by the film's characters.

Following this early experience, he became a key player at Charles Band's Empire Pictures, taking on editing roles for notable films such as Ghoulies (1985). Nicolaou made his directorial debut with The Dungeonmaster (1985), followed by the cult classic TerrorVision (1986), which helped solidify his reputation in the industry.

However, he is perhaps best known for his work on the Subspecies film series, which has garnered a dedicated following and is recognized for its unique blend of horror and fantasy elements.
