Robert Kerman was an American actor known for both mainstream and adult films. He began his career in off-Broadway theater before becoming involved in the adult film scene in New York City, initially taking on non-sexual roles. Eventually, he transitioned to performing in adult scenes, often credited under the names Richard Bolla or R. Bolla. Despite his work in adult films, Kerman always identified primarily as an actor and strived to pursue a conventional acting career. He appeared in notable films such as The Goodbye Girl (1977) and is particularly recognized for his role in the cult horror classic Cannibal Holocaust (1980). However, his involvement in adult films often hindered his opportunities in mainstream cinema. Years after stepping back from the adult film industry, director Sam Raimi invited him to audition for a minor role in Spider-Man (2002), which led to him being cast as a tugboat captain in a brief yet impactful appearance. Robert Kerman passed away on December 27, 2018, at his residence in New York City, succumbing to complications related to diabetes. His career spanned diverse genres and showcased his dedication to the craft of acting, despite the challenges he faced within the industry.
