Madiha Kamel
Madiha Kamel, a prominent Egyptian actress, was born in Alexandria and relocated to Cairo in 1963. There, she attended Al-Saneyya Secondary School for Girls in the Sayyeda Zeinab neighborhood, before pursuing her studies at the Faculty of Arts. Alongside her education, she began her career in the entertainment industry, taking on roles in films and working as a fashion model. Her journey extended beyond Egypt as she traveled to Lebanon to participate in various film projects.
On the theatrical stage, Madiha showcased her talent in several productions, including “Hello Shalaby” and “Helw al-kalaam” (Sweet Talk). Although she had notable performances, such as in “O’youn la tanaam” (Sleepless Eyes), it took a decade for her to achieve widespread recognition, which came with her pivotal role in “Al-So’ouud ilal-haaweya” (The Ascent to the Abyss).
Throughout her life, Madiha experienced three marriages. Her first husband was businessman Mahmoud al-Rayyes, with whom she had her only daughter, Mirhan. Following that, she married film director Shereef Hammouda, and later, a lawyer. Eventually, she chose to step away from acting, even leaving her final film, “Bawwaabat Eblees” (Devil’s Gate), unfinished. Madiha Kamel remains a significant figure in Egyptian cinema, remembered for her contributions and memorable performances.
