She made her acting debut in 1966 with Ishiro Honda's film *Oyome ni Oide*, marking the beginning of a notable career in the Japanese cinematic landscape.

Kobayashi became well-known for her roles in two of Honda's iconic tokusatsu films for Toho: *Destroy All Monsters*, released in 1968, and *Space Amoeba*, which premiered in 1970. These films showcased her talent and helped solidify her place within the genre.

In addition to these significant roles, Kobayashi gained further recognition for her performance in *The Vampire Doll*, a key film in director Michio Yamamoto's acclaimed Bloodthirsty Trilogy. This film is notable for its blend of horror and drama, contributing to the cult status of the trilogy.
