Bille Brown
Bille Brown (11 January 1952 - 13 January 2013) was a distinguished Australian actor celebrated for his work in Shakespearean theatre and a prolific playwright.
After completing his drama studies at the University of Queensland, Brown embarked on his professional journey with the Queensland Theatre Company. He later joined the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in Stratford and London, where he not only showcased his acting skills but also contributed as one of the few commissioned writers for the company.
Throughout his career, Bille Brown AM earned significant recognition for his contributions to the performing arts. He was honored twice within the Australian Honours System: on 1 January 2001, he received the Centenary Medal for his exceptional service to the arts. Following this, on 26 January 2011, he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his remarkable achievements as both an actor and playwright, as well as his dedication to education.
