Tobias Moretti
Tobias Moretti, born Tobias Bloéb on July 11, 1959, hails from Gries am Brenner in Tyrol, Austria. As the oldest of four brothers—Thomas, Christoph, and fellow actor Gregor Bloéb—he has made a significant mark in the Austrian entertainment scene. Moretti has been married to oboist Julia Moretti (née Wilhem) since 1997, and together they have three children: Antonia (born August 1998), Lenz Valentino (born February 2000), and Rosa Cäcilia (born February 2011). His surname, adopted from his Italian heritage, pays homage to his mother.
Moretti's artistic journey began with a focus on composition at the Vienna University of Music and Applied Arts, followed by dramatic training at the prestigious Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich. After completing his studies, he joined the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel ensemble and later performed at the Munich Kammerspiele from 1985 to 1995. During this period, he garnered acclaim for his versatile performances in various productions, including Bertolt Brecht's *Man is Man*, Achternbusch's *Der Frosch* (The Frog), and the lead role in Shakespeare's *Troilus and Cressida*.
Moretti is perhaps best recognized for his role as Richard Moser in the popular television series *Inspector Rex*, where he captivated audiences from 1994 to 1998 as the lead detective in the murder unit. His contributions to both stage and screen have solidified his status as a prominent figure in Austrian cinema and theatre.
