Nick Hexum
Nick Hexum, born in Madison, Wisconsin, grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where he attended Westside High School. During his high school years, he developed a passion for music, performing in the school's concert jazz band and participating in various local groups, including "The Extras," "The Ed's," "The Right Profile," and "Unity." In the late 1980s, Hexum ventured to Los Angeles to chase his musical dreams. However, he soon realized that his true opportunity lay back in Omaha.
Encouraged by his friend and future bandmate, Chad Sexton, Hexum returned to Omaha, where he joined forces with fellow musicians Aaron Wills and Jim Watson. This collaboration gave birth to the band 311, which would go on to achieve significant success in the alternative rock scene. Known for their unique blend of rock, reggae, and hip-hop, 311 gained a dedicated following and released several acclaimed albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, such as "Music" and "Transistor."
With Hexum as the lead vocalist and guitarist, 311 has enjoyed a prolific career, marked by multiple gold and platinum certifications. Their energetic live performances and innovative sound have solidified their place in music history, making Nick Hexum a respected figure in the industry.
