Teresa Ann Savoy
Teresa Ann Savoy, FRSA (18 July 1955 – 9 January 2017) was a distinguished British actress known for her compelling performances in Italian cinema. At just 18, she gained media attention after appearing in the Italian adult magazine Playmen in October 1973 under the pseudonym "Terry," having left home at 16 to join a hippie community in Sicily.
Savoy's film career took off in 1974 when renowned director Alberto Lattuada cast her in Le farò da padre, where she portrayed Clotilde, a character with intellectual disabilities. The following year, she starred in Miklós Jancsó's Private Vices, Public Pleasures, playing the role of Mary Vetsera, the lover of Crown Prince Rudolf, in a provocative take on historical events.
Her collaboration with director Tinto Brass began in 1976 with Salon Kitty, where she played a young Nazi youth turned spy. This partnership continued with the controversial Caligula in 1979, further solidifying her place in the cinematic landscape. In 1977, she appeared in the television film Sandokan alla riscossa!, adapting Emilio Salgari's beloved novels.
Savoy returned to the big screen in 1981, featuring in Aldo Lado's La disubbidienza as Edith, and once again joined Jancsó for The Tyrant's Heart. Teresa Ann Savoy passed away from cancer on 9 January 2017 in Milan, where she was surrounded by her husband and two children, leaving behind a legacy of bold and memorable performances.
