Genevieve Buechner

18 titles Acting Nov 10, 1991 Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Genevieve Buechner was born on November 10, 1991, at 2:30 AM in Edmonton, Canada, amidst a fierce snowstorm, to her single mother, Tea Buechner. From the age of three, Genevieve developed a passion for acting, persistently urging her mother to enroll her in lessons, despite Tea's initial reluctance.

Eventually, Genevieve's tenacity paid off, and she was permitted to take a small acting course at the Vancouver Youth Theatre. After completing the course, she sought permission to audition for the youth theatre's acting tour, but her mother hesitated, citing her lack of experience. To their surprise, the director called their home that evening, insisting on Genevieve's audition. She was ultimately chosen as the youngest member of the cast.

During the tour, Genevieve caught the attention of talent agent Robert Carrier, leading to her signing with Carrier Talent Management. Shortly thereafter, she audibly auditioned for the lead role in the Toronto Independent Film "St. Monica." Despite being unprepared and dressed casually, casting director Carol Tarlington helped her prepare, leading to Genevieve winning the lead role at just ten years old. The film became a festival hit, screening at major festivals such as Berlin, Toronto, and Vancouver, and earned her a nomination for a Canadian Leo Award in 2003 for Best Lead Performance by a Female.

Throughout her career, Genevieve has appeared in various feature films, made-for-television movies, and recurring roles in television series, including her notable role as Tamara Adams in the "Battlestar Galactica" spin-off "Caprica." An advocate for independent film, she continues to support the industry.
