She was a prominent actress in both theatre and film, having commenced her acting journey on stage in 1924. By 1926, she made her mark in the film industry with her debut in German silent cinema.

Wieck gained significant recognition for her performance in the 1931 film "Mädchen in Uniform" (Girls in Uniform), which solidified her status as a leading actress. Her venture into American cinema began with "Cradle Song" in 1933, further expanding her artistic repertoire.

Throughout her illustrious career, Wieck starred in approximately 50 films and showcased her talents on prestigious stages, including the Deutsches Theater and the Schillertheater in Berlin. In addition to her acting, she took on the role of theatre director, contributing to the arts in multiple capacities. Following World War II, Wieck predominantly took on supporting roles in films and gradually stepped away from the silver screen in the early 1960s.
