Mary Rose Byrne, born on July 24, 1979, is a talented actress hailing from Australia. She first appeared on screen in the film Dallas Doll in 1994 and spent the later part of the 1990s acting in various Australian films and television shows. Her breakthrough came with the lead role in The Goddess of 1967 in 2000, a performance that earned her the Volpi Cup for Best Actress. This success facilitated her entry into Hollywood, where she landed a minor role as Dormé in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002). Subsequently, she took on more substantial roles in films like Troy (2004), 28 Weeks Later (2007), and Knowing (2009).

Byrne is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Ellen Parsons in the acclaimed legal drama series Damages (2007–2012), which earned her nominations for two Golden Globe Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. She gained prominence as a comedic actress with her performances in Get Him to the Greek (2010) and Bridesmaids (2011), while continuing to showcase her range in dramas and thrillers. In her personal life, Byrne has been in a relationship with American actor Bobby Cannavale since 2012, and the couple share two sons. She is also the sister-in-law of New Zealand actress Rose McIver through her brother's marriage.
