1 title Acting Feb 17, 1934 Died: Apr 21, 2020 Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA

Norm Nielsen (February 17, 1934 – April 21, 2020) was a renowned American magician and entrepreneur, celebrated for his innovative musical performances. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Nielsen's fascination with magic ignited during his childhood when he witnessed his barber's cigarette tricks. His passion deepened after attending a magic convention where he was inspired by Neil Foster's performance, prompting him to enroll in the Chavez School of Magic in Los Angeles, from which he graduated in 1953.

One of Nielsen's early concepts was to create an illusion featuring a floating trumpet; however, he ultimately shifted his focus to the floating violin, which showcased a visible bow in motion. This groundbreaking illusion became a signature element of his act and remained a staple throughout his career, which spanned decades.

Expanding his musical magic repertoire, Nielsen devised other captivating tricks, such as a flute that disintegrates into silver dust and coins that melodically fall onto a vertical xylophone. His performances took him across the globe, gracing stages in cities like London, Tokyo, and Monte Carlo, and he enjoyed a notable six-year engagement at the famous Crazy Horse Saloon in Paris.

In 1956, Nielsen founded Nielsen Magic, where he crafted magic props, drawing expertise from the legendary Theo Bamberg, or Okito. He was authorized to produce the Okito Checker Cabinet and developed his own line of products, including Vanishing Bottles, Rubber Doves, and Manipulation Cards, solidifying his legacy in the world of magic.
