Cheryl Dorsey, a retired Sergeant from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), has a deep understanding of the complexities of urban life. Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles during a time of significant demographic change, Dorsey witnessed firsthand the transformation of her neighborhood as it shifted from a predominantly White community to one marked by the challenges of gang violence, notably from the Crips and Bloods.
Throughout her career, Dorsey has become a prominent voice on critical issues that dominate national discourse, including police misconduct, racial profiling, and the use of excessive force.
