Walter Scott Murch, born on July 12, 1943, is a distinguished American film editor, director, writer, and sound designer. His illustrious career boasts contributions to iconic films such as THX 1138, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather trilogy, American Graffiti, The Conversation, Ghost, and The English Patient. Murch has earned three Academy Awards from nine nominations, showcasing his talent in both picture editing and sound mixing.

Notably, Murch made history as the first individual to receive the title of "Sound Designer" for his groundbreaking work on Apocalypse Now. He also played a pivotal role in the re-editing and sound mixing of Apocalypse Now Redux.
