Michael Newman

Michael Newman (April 26, 1957 - October 20, 2024) was a prominent American actor and dedicated firefighter best remembered for his role as the lovable lifeguard Mike "Newmie" Newman on the iconic television series Baywatch. His unique background as a lifeguard in real life distinguished him from his co-stars, bringing authenticity to his character throughout the show’s impressive run from 1989 to 2001. During this period, Newman appeared in 150 episodes, making him one of the most recognizable faces on the show, second only to David Hasselhoff.

In addition to his acting career, Newman was committed to serving his community as a full-time firefighter.
