Tawny Newsome

Tawny Newsome, born on February 24, 1983, stands at 5 feet 10 inches (1.77 meters) and is a multifaceted American artist excelling as a musician, actress, and comedian. She gained recognition for her portrayal of Chelsea Leight-Leigh on the Comedy Central series Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, as well as her role as Nina in The Comedy Get Down. Most notably, she voices Beckett Mariner in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks, which premiered in 2020. In addition to her acting accolades, Newsome co-hosts the popular podcast Yo, Is This Racist? alongside Andrew Ti.

Born in Vacaville, California, Tawny spent her formative years on a ranch. She pursued her passion for the performing arts at DePaul University in Chicago, where she majored in theater. After earning her degree, she embarked on her comedy journey with the renowned Second City improv troupe.
