Omar Bustamante
Omar Bustamante, a talented actor and playwright, hails from Jersey City, NJ, where he was raised by parents who immigrated from Ecuador. Initially a three-sport athlete, Omar discovered his true calling in the world of theater and film later in his life. For the past decade, he has honed his craft under the esteemed mentorship of Terry Schrieber at T. Schrieber Studios, as well as at the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade in New York.
Omar was set to perform in “Lester Collins Takes Five” at the prestigious Signature Theatre as part of the Downtown Urban Arts Festival before the pandemic disrupted plans. In response to the challenges posed by COVID-19, he participated in Rolando Chusan’s charity play “The Roundtable,” which successfully raised over $6,000 for families affected by the crisis.
Among his notable performances, Omar has portrayed "Jackie" in Stephen Adly Giurgis' "The Motherfucker With the Hat" at T. Schrieber Studio. He was also a participant in the Labryinth Theatre Company’s 2019 Intensive, which developed the award-winning script “Platformz” by Edison Diaz. Passionate about nurturing the next generation of artists, Omar dedicates his summers to teaching inner-city youth at The Ironbound Enrichment programs in Newark, NJ. Currently, he is crafting a feature film script titled "American Sons," inspired by his experiences as a loan officer during the tumultuous financial crisis of the 2000s.
