Katy Sullivan
Katy Sullivan is a multifaceted American talent, recognized as an actress, producer, writer, and a distinguished Paralympic athlete holding US records in track and field. Born with a bilateral transfemoral amputation, Sullivan grew up in Alabama and cultivated a passion for gymnastics, singing, and acting, later earning a BFA in acting from Webster University’s Conservatory in St. Louis.
Her theatrical career includes notable performances such as her role in "The Long Red Road," directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman at the Goodman Theatre, and as the lead in the Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s 2024 production of "Richard III." Sullivan's television appearances span popular series, including NBC's "My Name Is Earl," ABC's "Last Man Standing," FX's "Legit," and CBS' "NCIS: New Orleans," along with a memorable role as Esther in the 2021 revival of Showtime's "Dexter."
Sullivan gained acclaim for her portrayal of Ani in the world premiere of "Cost of Living," which she reprised off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club, earning her a Theatre World Award and nominations for prestigious accolades, including a Tony Award nomination for the Broadway production in 2022—making her the first female amputee nominated for this honor.
Additionally, she co-founded SulliFlinn Productions with Becca Flinn White, focusing on comedy content inspired by their life experiences. As a four-time US champion in the 100 meters, Sullivan made history at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, setting an American record of 17.33 seconds. In recognition of her contributions to the community, she received the Athletes in Excellence Award from The Foundation for Global Sports Development in 2015.
