Alexandre Astier
Alexandre Astier, born on June 16, 1974, in Lyon, France, is a multifaceted talent known for his work as a writer, director, actor, composer, and humorist. He is best recognized for his groundbreaking television series, Kaamelott, where he serves as the creator, director, writer, and lead actor, portraying the iconic character of King Arthur.
Growing up in a theatrical family—his parents Joëlle Sevilla and Lionnel Astier were prominent figures in Lyon's theater scene—Astier developed a passion for the arts early on. He pursued music studies at the conservatory and the American School of Modern Music in Paris, alongside training in acting and screenwriting.
Kaamelott, which draws inspiration from the tales of King Arthur and his Knights, first captured audiences with its humor and unique storytelling on M6. Initially airing episodes lasting just three and a half minutes, the series evolved to longer formats, culminating in seven-minute and fifty-five-minute episodes in its final season. Astier's four children have made appearances in the series, further intertwining his family life with his creative endeavors.
